Selected from among hundreds of adventure tour operators worldwide, JOURNEYS was awarded a place on the Top Ten list of Do-It-All operators. In that category, JOURNEYS achieved the highest ranking in "Spirit of Adventure," the degree to which trips introduce travelers to innovative experiences. In granting the title in its November issue, the magazine specifically cited the following:
Million Animal Safari to Kenya
Solar Eclipse Trips in China and Mongolia
Gabon Nature Trips
Nepal Everest Treks
A panel of travel experts and writers selected honorees from hundreds of operators classified in six different categories. As some of you know from the calls you received, the selection process included interviews with trip participants. Thank you for your positive reports that helped us win the award. Other judging criteria included education, sustainability and quality of service.
JOURNEYS' trips, Great Green Guyana and Himalayan Tree Planting Trek, have been selected as part of National Geographic Traveler magazine’s 2008 Tours of a Lifetime, and are featured in the May/June 2008 issue.
JOURNEYS has also been cited by Condé Nast Traveler for six consecutive years for multiple categories of Top Travel Specialist awards and as Best Green Travel Outfitter. JOURNEYS, founded in Ann Arbor in 1978, offers more than 175 trips to 50 destinations around the globe.
Since our founding in 1979, the Earth Preservation Fund(EPF) has worked to preserve the resources we enjoy most. Over the past 29 years, the EPF has supported numerous community-based environmental, educational, and cultural preservation programs.
Currently the EPF is supporting a traditional cultural school and tree planting in Nepal, library and monastery restoration projects in Ladakh, Conservation in the Galapagos Islands and community based tourism in Kenya.
All EPF supported projects are small-scale and community initiated. Rather than working with larger conservation organizations that spend a large portion of their budget on fundraising activities, the EPF looks to support smaller projects where a contribution of up to $500 can make a significant difference.
The EPF is a tax-exempt 501(c )3 organization so contributions to the EPF are tax free.
