    Best of Namibia

    Day 1Arrive in Windhoek

    Upon arrival in Windhoek, you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Safari, or similar, for your overnight. With its lingering heritage of German architecture, activities and atmosphere, Windhoek is a city which can be visited throughout the year. The day is spent at leisure. You will be met by your guide at the hotel reception for a briefing around 6:00 p.m. Dinner is on your own.

    Day 2 - 4Etosha National Park

    Etosha National Park is one of the most important reserves and game sanctuaries in Africa. Thousands of wild animals such as blue wildebeest, springbok, zebra, kudu, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant, etc. are attracted to the area. The bird-life is prolific with 326 recorded species. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are enjoyed with the evenings spent watching an amazing diversity of animals around the floodlit waterhole bordering your campsite.

    Day 5Ruacana

    Drive through ‘Owaboland’ which consists of communal farming land of the Oshiwambo people. Stop to view a giant baobab tree that once functioned as a church. You will arrive at Ruacana in the afternoon and have time to relax in camp on the banks of the Kunene River.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Day 6 & 7Kaokoland / Himba Visit / Epupa Falls

    The Epupa Falls are a series of cascades where the Kunene River drops 60m in 1.5km forming a multitude of channels and rock pools. A variety of birds occur in the area. You will visit a Himba village to familiarize yourself with their way of life. The Himbas are a semi-nomadic tribe, who live in scattered settlements throughout the region. They are characterized by their proud yet friendly stature and the women are noted for their unusual beauty, enhanced by intricate hairstyles and traditional dress.

    Day 8Damaraland

    An early morning drive will take you to Damaraland. The changing colors of the surrounding landscapes are enjoyed on a guided sunset walk with explanations of the unique flora and geology of the area.

    Day 9Twyfelfontein / Brandberg

    Visit the Twyfelfontein area with walks to view the ancient Bushman rock engravings, Organ Pipes, and the Burnt Mountain. Camp at the foot of Brandberg Mountain which is the highest in Namibia.

    Day 10Swakopmund

    On your way to Swakopmund, visit Cape Cross Seal Colony, one of the largest mainland seal colonies in the world. Swakopmund, with its German colonial atmosphere, is the principal coastal resort of Namibia. Time is spent at leisure to enjoy the charm of this old town or to undertake one of the many optional activities on offer, such as scenic flights or hot air ballooning (activities booked locally). Dinner is on your own. Overnight accommodations in Guest House.

    Day 11Gamsberg Mountain / Star Gazing

    Driving via the Moon Landscape, you will stop to view the unusual prehistoric Welwitschia plant, a dwarf tree flourishing on the moisture of the Atlantic coast. Its lifespan is estimated at more than 1,000 years. At night you will have the opportunity of viewing globular clusters and planets (weather permitting) through a six-inch ZEISS APQ refractor with a ZEISS wide-field bino-viewer.

    Day 12 & 13Namib Desert / Sesriem

    Todays journey will take you south to the heart of the Namib Desert. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a short hike through the Sesriem Canyon. The following morning, depart early for Sossusvlei stopping in the dune belt to enjoy the changing colors of the world’s highest sand dunes. The morning is spent walking amongst the dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.

    Day 14Windhoek

    Drive back to Windhoek, arriving around 1:00pm. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
